Q: Can the Eastwood 2K paint be re-used if it is activated or is it a one time use?
A: The 2K products have a limited usable life once the seal to the hardener is broken. The principle behind the 2K products is that you mix a hardener into the paint. The hardener makes the paint harder and more resistant to scratches and chemicals. So when you break the seal in the can introducing the hardener into the paint, the hardener begins to do what it is designed to do, harden the paint. This is done by a chemical reaction so it does not have to be introduced into the air for it to dry/harden. So once the seal is broken you have to use the paint within 24 to 48 hours before the paint in the can is hardened.
Q: To paint a fresh block or any bare metal with this paint is a primer needed and what prep work needs to be done?
A: No. A primer is not needed for the Eastwood 2K Ceramic Engine Paint.
According to Eastwood, you just need to clean bare metal that has preferably been media blasted. Then wipe the area to be painted with their Pre Painting Prep (or our Panel Cleaner) and you are ready to paint. Their 2K Ceramic Engine coatings are designed to be painted direct to metal.
Q: Are there any paints or coatings that 2K Aero Spray cannot be sprayed over?
A: You usually should not apply it over any uncatalysed products.
Q: Can this be used over Eastwoods rust encapsulator?
A: We would not recommend putting an engine paint over top of Rust Encapsulator for the greatest durability. You should try to media blast the engine to clean it before paint.
