Medium 120 Grit Lapping Paste (2.5kg)
M533MED£44.99
-
Good balance of cutting speed vs finish — 120 grit medium is fine enough to smooth without too much aggression, yet coarse enough to remove wear / minor damage.
-
Water‑based gel means cleaner use, easier rinsing, and lower environmental impact versus heavy oil‑based pastes.
-
Non‑drying / rewettable formula means it remains usable over time and doesn’t congeal or harden if left unused for a while.
-
Low fling & stable gel means less waste / spatter / mess; keeps more paste where it’s needed.
-
Corrosion protection is a nice bonus when doing sharpening / lapping work, especially where the metal is exposed and could rust before final assembly or treatment.
High performance Water Based Lapping Paste 80, 120, 220, 30/60 Grit Available. 2.5kg tamper evident tubs.

Best Uses & Recommended Practices
Here are tips to get optimal results with Chemico Medium 120 Grit:
-
Prepare the surfaces: clean off oil, dirt, rust; ensure surfaces are flat/level (especially for blades, mating faces etc.).
-
Correct blade/edge alignment: e.g. for mower blades, align both within approx. 1mm height difference before using paste. Helps ensure even sharpening.
-
Apply the paste: use a brush or swab to spread an even layer. Don’t over‑apply — excess leads to waste and mess.
-
Running / lapping: run the machine in reverse lapping (if available) or use blades at slow speed; allow 1 minute or so; check finish; reapply if necessary.
-
Water/rinse: Because it’s water‑based, rinse the paste off after use; clean parts thoroughly. Dry them to avoid rust.
-
Use progressively: If starting from worse condition, begin with coarser gel (80 grit or coarser), then move to 120, and if necessary finer (e.g. 220) for final smoothing.
-
Storage: after use, wipe off excess paste from the tub edge, close tightly, store in proper temperature range (0‑35°C), protect from frost

* Resists slumping
* Prevents corrosion on newly sharpened blades
Application and Storage Adjust cutting edges to be level and within 1mm of each other and coat blades with compound using swab or brush. This can be done whilst the blade are running in reverse lapping gear but obvious safety precautions should be taken. The selection of coarse, medium or fine will depend upon type of equipment and degree of sharpening needed. Run machine without cutting grass for up to 1 minute and re-apply if necessary. Readjust blades accordingly. Store between 0-35 degrees C. Store in tightly closed containers. Protect from frost.
