The carbon tip gives a high speed, concentrated spot of heat just where you want it. Fitted with dual temperature selection for large or small jobs.

Powered from the mains via a transformer. The output is 6 volts, and there is a standard or high current output option controlled by a momentary foot switch.

Additional carbon tips are also available.

I have been looking for a RSU for some time and a friend mentioned this model.
I Like the previous reviewer wanted it to solder brass railway kits. I have used it to solder thin overlays on 0 Gauge coach under frames, assembling small lamp brackets and as a "spot solderer" to hold larger parts in place so I could use a normal iron.
I obtained a 500 x 300 mm sheet of 5 mm steel which I added a nut and bolt to, as a ground. This also allows the use of magnets to hold things down. where possible I also insert a thing piece of ply as the steel can act as a heat sink (Posted on 17/05/2017)

A useful piece of kitReview by DonnerPassFan

A useful tool for my hobby - working on brass model locomotives - where you're trying to secure small components, like 1/4" 8BA nuts to larger expanses of metal without unsoldering all the other bits. Like the blurb says - you're only putting heat where it's needed.
The only gripe is that the carbon tips are fragile, so it's worth ordering a spare tip along with the unit. (Posted on 01/03/2016)
