  Introduction to Fibreglass

  • Room temperature plays an important part with the resin – generally you need 2% catalyst (10g) to 500g of resin, in cold temperatures you may need 3% (15g) or only 1% (5g) in hot weather. Resin pot life should be around 15-20 minutes for working – so don’t mix too much at a time!

  • Grease and dust prevent the resin bonding, so cleanliness is the key. The best cleaning material is Acetone, but cellulose thinners will work too.

  • Glassfibre is irritating to skin and dangerous to your respiratory system, so please use the following protective equipments when working: Overall, preferably taped at the wrist, gloves, goggles and a facemask.
