Static timing is fine for getting an engine running, but to get it running well you need to test it dynamically.
To do that you'll need a strobe timing light. Hook up to the battery, slip the inductive pick up over plug lead number one, dial in the amount of advance required (up to 60 degrees is available) and run the engine. The bright, white strobe clearly illuminates the timing mark allowing you to make accurate adjustments.
Comes complete with detailed instructions.
